Joseph W. Strella Jr.
Partner Joseph Strella has been with the firm since 2001 and specializes in employment law, representing employers and individuals in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination actions. The harassment and discrimination cases have involved gender identity and sexual orientation issues as well harassment and discrimination based on sex and/or race or other protected categories. This includes matters involving Title VII and California's Fair Employment and Housing Act. He has represented clients in California and Federal Courts as well as governmental agencies such as the DLSE and DFEH. In addition to adversarial matters, Joe provides advice and assistance to clients involved in the investigation of discrimination and harassment complaints.
In addition to employment matters, Joe also defends clients in personal injury, general civil liability, wrongful death, construction defect, product liability, unfair competition, consumer warranty and landlord/tenant cases. Joe's representation of landlords includes cases involving the Oakland and San Francisco Tenant Protection Ordinances.
Prior to joining Clapp, Moroney, Joe spent three years representing clients in personal injury, medical malpractice, legal malpractice and product liability cases. He also spent one year at a small start-up company providing guidance on First Amendment, compensation, and employment issues.
Joe attended Duke University, graduating in 1988, with an BA in public policy studies. He obtained his JD, in 1995, from the University of Colorado School of Law.
Joe is admitted to practice in California and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Joe is a member of the American Bar Association and the San Francisco Bar Association.
